Packers reign has just begun

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers won the Super Bowl last Sunday after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers. In a game which Green Bay dominated early, the Steelers made a comeback until Rashard Mendenhall coughed up a costly fumble. That was all Rodgers needed, going on to have one of the most efficient games by a quarterback in Super Bowl history, completing 62% of his passes for 304 yards with three touchdowns and going interception-free.

Rodgers has finally come out from under the shadow of Brett Favre, and he has a lot of time to continue etching his own legacy. The Packers’ core is extremely young. B.J. Raji and Clay Matthews are only in their second year, Tramon Williams is only in his fourth season, Greg Jennings is 27, Jordy Nelson is 25, and their two injured players, starting running back Ryan Grant and starting tight end JerMichael Finley, didn’t play all year. Finley is 23 and considered one of the top tight ends in the game. It seems likely that they will have similar success next year considering the age of their core, and with Rodgers handling the snaps, the Packers are in good hands. Las Vegas already presented their betting lines on who will win the Super Bowl next year and they have the Packers as the favourites at 8-1, just ahead of the New England Patriots. Rodgers has improved every year he’s been the starting quarterback and now he’s won the big one. It looks like Rodgers is on his way to even bigger and better things. Rodgers now joins the elite quarterbacks of the league, the likes of Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning.

A-Rod has become the new face of the league, and with his famouschampion title belt celebration, Rodgers has established himself as his own man. Green Bay is a franchise known for their championship history and numerous Hall of Famers. When historically famous teams like Green Bay win, it could only benefit the league. Green Bay might be a small market, but they have a huge following full of the craziest and most passionate fans who will follow their team through thick and thin. The reign of the cheese is upon us and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon.
