After talks with The Medium's board of directors beginning in 2012/13, the UTM Library reached an agreement to digitize the back catalogue of print editions. As of now, the collection is nearly complete; a few issues are still yet to be archived, and the collection is not yet fully organized. However, by searching around you can usually find what you’re looking for.
Issuu.com is a publication website that The Medium issues for hosting and embedding digital PDFs of the weekly print edition. It appears to have been first used to accompany the 2012 website, but its catalogue has since been updated to include the earliest surviving digital PDFs in The Medium's holdings, from the start of 2008.
This Wordpress-based website was an innovative attempt to diversify the magazine offerings for the original two Medium Magazine editions in spring 2010 and spring 2011, after its creation by Alain Latour, Michael Di Leo, and Matthew Filipowich. Its layout is organized around a magazine layout concept.
This appears to be The Medium's first foray into an online presence. Outdated web technologies such as plain HTML pages gradually show a movement to PHP headers, the use of a database, and some embedded Flash content by the website's apparent retirement in 2005. When browsing this website, keep in mind that what you see there is everything we have. For a more consistent experience, we have tried to disable all missing links. However, all archive pages work and should help you navigate.
